Preparation
- In a bowl, combine warmed milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit until foamy, about 5-10 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
- Add the yeast mixture, softened butter, and eggs to the flour mixture.
- Mix until the dough comes together, then knead for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Incorporate chocolate chips, then place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled (about 1-2 hours).
Baking
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Let it rise again for 30-45 minutes.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool before slicing.
Notes
Best served fresh, plain, or toasted. Goes well with butter, jam, or ice cream. Can be stored wrapped at room temperature for 2-3 days, or refrigerated for up to a week. Freezes well for up to 3 months.
