  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices American cheese Feel free to use any cheese of your choice.
  • 4 buns brioche or sesame seed burger buns Toasting adds flavor.
Sauce Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon pickle relish
Optional Toppings
  • lettuce, tomato, onion Add as desired.

Method

Grilling Preparation
  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Form the ground beef into thick patties and season both sides with salt and pepper.
Cooking the Burgers
  1. Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
  2. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of American cheese on each patty to melt.
Making the Sauce
  1. While the burgers are cooking, in a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and pickle relish to create the sauce.
Toasting Buns and Assembling
  1. Toast the burger buns on the grill for about 1 minute.
  2. Assemble the burgers by placing the cooked patties on the bottom halves of the buns, adding your sauce, and any optional toppings.
  3. Close with the top halves of the buns, serve, and enjoy!

Notes

For juicier burgers, don’t overwork the ground beef when forming the patties. Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness; aim for 160°F for medium. Experiment with different cheeses or add spices to the beef for extra flavor. A toasted bun makes the burger taste even better.
