Ingredients for Gin Mint Julep
  • 10 leaves Fresh mint leaves Essential for that signature minty freshness. You can substitute with mint extract if you don't have fresh, but the flavor will be different.
  • 2 oz Gin The star spirit in this drink. Choose a good quality gin for smoother flavor. Vodka can be a substitute.
  • 1 oz Simple syrup A mixture of sugar and water that sweetens the drink. You can make your own or use store-bought.
  • 1 oz Fresh lime juice Adds tartness to balance the sweetness. Fresh is always best!
  • 1 cup Crushed ice Gives the drink a frosty texture. You can blend ice cubes for a similar effect.
  • 2 sprigs Mint sprigs (for garnish) This makes your drink look appealing and enhances the mint aroma.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a glass or cocktail shaker, gently muddle the fresh mint leaves with simple syrup.
  2. Pour in the gin and fresh lime juice. Stir gently to combine.
  3. Add crushed ice until the glass is nearly full.
  4. Stir the mixture lightly to integrate all the flavors.
  5. Top with a few fresh mint sprigs for an inviting presentation.
  6. Enjoy your Gin Mint Julep!

Notes

For an extra frosty experience, chill your serving glass in the freezer before assembling the drink. Adjust sweetness by starting with less simple syrup. Can be batched for parties by multiplying ingredients.
