Ingredients

Bread
  • 1 loaf Baguette or Italian Bread Provides a crispy crust and soft interior. Substitute with gluten-free bread if needed.
Garlic Butter Mixture
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter Adds richness; margarine can work but real butter is best.
  • 4 cloves Fresh Garlic, minced The star of the dish! Can swap for garlic powder in a hurry.
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley, chopped Adds color and freshness; dried can be used but fresh is preferred.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Enhances flavors; adjust to preference, especially if using salted butter.
Optional Topping
  • 1/4 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese For an extra layer of flavor and a cheesy crust.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine softened unsalted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and salt. Mix until everything is well blended.
  3. Slice your baguette or Italian bread in half lengthwise to create two long pieces.
  4. Generously spread the garlic butter mixture over both halves of the bread.
  5. If using Parmesan cheese, sprinkle it over the buttered bread.
  6. Place the bread on a baking tray and bake for about 10-15 minutes, until golden and crispy on the edges.
  7. Let it cool for a minute before slicing and serving warm.

Notes

Use softened butter for easy spreading. Consider roasting garlic beforehand for a sweeter flavor. For crispy bread, avoid overdoing the butter; a thin layer works best. You can place bread on the top rack for extra crispiness in the last 2 minutes of baking. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days, or frozen for a month. Reheat in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 5-7 minutes.
