Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, eggs, vanilla, cocoa powder, and 1 cup of flour until smooth to create the brownie batter.
- Spread the brownie batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
Cookie Dough Preparation
- In a separate bowl, cream the softened butter and brown sugar until smooth.
- Add one egg and the vanilla, and mix well.
- Stir in the remaining flour, baking soda, sea salt, and chocolate chips to form the cookie dough.
Baking
- Drop small discs of cookie dough evenly over the brownie batter.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30–35 minutes until the center is set but still soft.
- After baking, sprinkle lightly with flaky sea salt.
- Allow the brookies to cool completely in the pan for about 2 hours before slicing into 16 squares.
Notes
Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or enjoy at room temperature. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for about a week. For longer storage, freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw at room temperature before enjoying.
