Preparation
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, and any optional herbs or spices. Use your hands to combine gently; avoid overmixing to keep the patties tender.
- Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape each into a round patty, about ¾-inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.
- Place the patties on a plate or tray and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape.
Cooking
- Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Add a little oil if not using a non-stick surface.
- Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness, or until your desired doneness is reached.
- Let the patties rest for a few minutes before serving to retain their juices.
Notes
Store cooked patties in the fridge for up to 3 days in an airtight container. Uncooked patties freeze well for up to 2 months. Reheat in a skillet or microwave until heated through, adding a splash of water to keep moist.
