Preparation
- In a large bowl, mix the sourdough starter, bread flour, salt, and water until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth and elastic.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 240-360 minutes.
Shaping and Second Rise
- Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a floured proofing basket.
- Allow it to rise again for about 60-120 minutes.
Baking
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C) with a Dutch oven inside.
- Once preheated, carefully transfer the loaf to the hot Dutch oven.
- Cover and bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool before slicing.
Notes
Wrap the bread in a clean kitchen towel or place it in a bread box to keep it fresh. For longer storage, freeze the sliced bread wrapped in plastic wrap and foil.
